Together with New Balance, we contacted legendary graffiti artist and robot engineer Zedz to create something unique for the release of the new colorways of the New Balance 850.
New Balance brings back the classic 850 with a modern touch, a minimalist silhouette that was introduced in 1996. The upper has a mix of suede, synthetic fabrics and breathable mesh. The sneaker has reflective details on the heel and nose and a fast laces system that can be locked for fast and safe tightening of the laces. The midsole has the characteristic ABZORB technology under the heel and ROLLBAR TPU support under the front for ultimate stability.
Zedz (whose real name is Ronald van der Voet) is a graffiti artist, a graphic designer, a professional artist and a robot engineer. He has been spraying graffiti since 1986 and is also seen as a legend in terms of his graffiti art. After Zedz finished his college and sprayed graffiti in public places for a few years, he started studying at the Gerrit Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam and graduated in 1998. His works can best be described as crosses between graffiti and its dimensional environment.
Per colorway there will be 40 people that win the opportunity to purchase the sneaker and receive a screen print with it. When participating in the draw for these sneakers, you give permission for an automatic payment for if you are one of the 40 lucky ones to win the draw. These sneakers come with an original numbered screen print of the artwork from Zedz in the colors of this colorway. So don't forget to register for the draw!
